1) Important dates for the remainder of the season:
Sunday, September 21st - Mid-season captains' meeting
Saturday, September 27th - Mid-season double-elimination blind draw doubles money tournament
Wednesday, November 26th - last regular season matches
Sunday, November 30th; Wednesday, December 3rd; Sunday, December 7th; Wednesday, December 10th - Playoffs
Saturday, December 13th - End-of-season double-elimination singles money tournament
Friday, December 19th - End-of-season banquet
2) The captains were asked to think about possible charity causes for our upcoming banquet. There were some vague ideas thrown around, but nothing to write home about. Please contact your captain or an executive committee officer if you have any ideas for a charity.
It was also announced that 850,000 won from the 50/50 raffle at last season's banquet was given to Dewey Song's widow and son after he passed away. Prior to contributing this money, each acting captain from the previous season was contacted by the president to see if there were any objections. There were none. The league is to be thanked for that.
3) The Executive Committee announced that they would not run for office next season, and implored the captains to put together one or more Executive Committee teams (President, Vice-president, Treasurer, and Secretary) to be voted on at the end- of-season banquet.
There were three proposals brought up during the meeting:
1) It was proposed that the IPL format me changed to the Songtan League format of two sets of 5 singles, 1 more additional singles game, and two doubles games. The reason for suggesting this was to reduce the minimum number of players required for each match, and to have the matches end earlier in the night, due to fewer games per match. There was some discussion about the pros and cons, and it was decided to take a preliminary vote to see if it might be something to consider for next season. The vote was:
12-4 against. Failed
2) There was a proposal to have one more blind-draw doubles tournament at the end of the season starting next season.
This means that there will be a mid season singles trophy tournament and a mid season doubles trophy tournament. and then an end-of-season singles money tournament and an end-of-season doubles money tournament. All seemed agreeable to this, so we took a vote.
The vote was:
14-0 in favor. Passed.
3) There was a proposal that we assign points (not related to player rankings) for tournament wins (3 points for 1st place, 2 points for 2nd place, and 1 point for 3rd place) and then add up all the points for each player who competes in the tournaments. Whoever gets the most points in the tournaments would receive a "Tournament King" award at the banquet. This drew very little interest, but a vote was taken anyway. The vote was:
11-4 against. Failed.
There was a call for any other business, and nothing else was brought up.
The captains were thanked for their participation, and the meeting was adjourned at 5:56 pm.
