New Season Organisational Meeting and Housekeeping

The organisational for the new season will take place next week. The details are as follows:

Place: Dolce Vita

Date: Wednesday, 8th July

Time: 7:30pm

Please sign up for the new season. Each team must nominate a captain and the captain must give contact and team name details. They must also put down a deposit of 100,000won. The total fees for the season will be 350,000won which must be paid by July 29th.

The new season will start a week later on July 15th. The key dates for the Summer/Fall 2015 Season will be given out at the organisational meeting.

My thanks to all those who attended the Awards Banquet last Friday. I also appreciate those who gave their suggestions for the coming season and those issues will be raised at the organisational meeting. (I might even include the suggestions  that the league adopts the slogan 'Nice Rack' and inaugurates a strip pool tournament. I suspect those ideas came from 3 Alley but I'm not sure if our eyes are ready for the shock of those guys participating in a strip pool tournament)

There are several bars in the Itaewon Pool League who would like a second team. Hollywood is getting a new table next week and would like a second team. The old 3 Alley, now called Fat Alberts, is looking for a new team for the new season. I also believe Friend's might be looking for players or a team for the new season. If your bar is experiencing problems please let me know and the IPL executive committee will try to help find an alternative venue for your team.

3 Alley Pub has a new venue and is now called 3 Alley Seoul. It is in the basement of the Cheil Building near the Rocky Mountain Tavern and next to a Coffee Bean outlet. It is a fantastic new bar and they now have one of the best pool tables in league.

Bird Riders Korea is also planning to offer discounts to all IPL players on Thursdays. I will get more details in the next week and post on here soon.

Winter/Spring 2015 Banquet

This Friday sees the culmination of the 2015 IPL Winter/Spring Season with our traditional banquet at the Crown Hotel.

Friday 26th June 2015

Crown Hotel

7pm - 10pm

There will be a sumptuous feast, plenty of free alcohol, a great raffle, team prizes, individual awards and hopefully a few laughs as well. 

Anyone who has played a game this season can enter the banquet. Members are also welcome to bring guests but they will be charged 30,000won for the privilege of attending this spectacular event.

Non-league members will not be permitted to take the place of a member. Our toughest security will be on the door so please don't even try to get around this rule :)

End of Season Doubles Trophy Tournament

22 players braved the wet and stormy conditions on Saturday to contest the End of Season Doubles Trophy Tournament. It was a good natured affair, all involved seemed to enjoy the day and it was a tournament definitely played in the right spirit. My thanks go to Bernard and Lenny once again for helping me with the set up, Friend's and Hollywood for hosting graciously and to all the players who made the effort to make the tournament so entertaining.

In the end Maki (proving herself to be the true Queen of Doubles) and Jun triumphed over the rest of the field. The full results can be seen on the website and the trophy winners are as follows:

1st Place: Jun Bongon J (Bulldog Rackem & Crackem) & Maki Dejamak (Seoul Pub Breakers)

2nd Place: So Mi Lee (Bulldog Lounge) & Willi GER (Friend's the Pain)

3rd Place: Jeong Yong Shim (Shenanigans Boomtown Rats) & David Zoo (Sin Bin Tomato)

All 6 players will receive trophies at the banquet on Friday.
