We had the mid-season captains' meeting on October 18th.

There were representatives for 10 of the 15 teams at the meeting. Those ten teams will receive 15 bonus points, as we announced before the meeting.

Here is what we covered in the meeting:

1) End of Season Banquet:

We feel that it is in the best interest of the league and and its members that we do not hold a banquet this season. That many people packed into a room, maskless and drunk, might put the country into Level 3.

We will still prepare a slide presentation, which we will make available for viewing. We will also designate a time and place for people to pick up team and individual awards.

  1. End of Season Date:

Currently, the season is scheduled to end on November 11th, with playoffs ending on November 25th. We had to skip Weeks 6 and 7, due to Korean government restrictions. Since we are foregoing the banquet this season, we would like to extend the season two more weeks, and play those missing matches. This means that the season will end on November 25th, and the playoffs will finish on December 16th. We would like to have only Wednesday night playoffs, as well.

New Schedule:

Week 15 – November 11

Week 6 – November 18

Week 7 – November 25

Playoffs:

Round 1 – Wednesday, December 2

Round 2 – Wednesday, December 9

Round 3 – Wednesday, December 16

  1. Playoff format:

Since we only have 5 teams per bracket, we will be using a standard single-elimination format.

  1. Since we only have 15 teams, it is natural to have 5 teams in each playoff bracket, based on final standings. At the moment, there is a pretty natural break after the top 5 teams, so we will continue with that plan.

  1. Since we are extending the season two more weeks to make up the lost matches, we will keep the playoff eligibility at a minimum of 5 matches.

  1. For the remainder of the season, let's stay smart and stay safe in regards to the coronavirus.

Ladies and gentlemen of the IPL,

Unfortunately, the JR Pub Solid team has dropped out of the league.

This is a bit of an inconvenience for all, but it has happened. This means that some teams will have 3 BYEs this season.

Any future games scheduled against the JR Pub Solid team will now be considered a BYE. The team that has the BYE will get points equal to their average score throughout the season, with a minimum of 8 points, along with the match win point.

Please check your upcoming schedule to see if it affects your team.

It sucks, I know, but we must soldier on!

Thanks to Darryl Dawson (for arranging the translation) and Bernard (for uploading it onto the website), there is now a Korean version of the IPL rules available on the website under the "Rules" menu. In order to access this file, you will need to have the site set to Korean language. Hopefully, this will make it easier for our Korean speaking members.

The season is over, and what a season it turned out to be.

First, congratulations are in order to the teams who came out on top in the playoffs.

The banquet will be held on Saturday, December 15th at the Crown Hotel. It will start at 7:00 pm and finish at 10:00 pm.

It is free to any league member who has played at least 3 matches this season.

League members with less than 3 matches will need to pay 15,000 won.

All other guests will need to pay 30,000 won.

As with all Itaewon Pool League banquets, there will be a full buffet, an open bar (with beer and hard liquor), individual and team awards, and a 50/50 raffle with a lot of excellent prizes available. It will also be a chance to celebrate the league, your teams, friendships and friendly rivalries. And, as usual, it will be a great chance to laugh at ourselves and at one another.

See you there!
